After not having the birth that I wanted with my first son, I became very interested in having a home birth. Christine is one of the only home birth midwives in the area but regardless she is the best! If I had 100 other options I would choose Christine and her team in a heart beat. Christine helped me have the amazing natural birth I dreamed of. Not only did she support me as a woman and mother, she embodied wisdom, professionalism and expertise as a midwife and mother herself. I felt confident every step of the way through my birth knowing we had Christine as our midwife! Even my husband who was completely against having a home birth was awed by the entire experience and said he wouldn’t want to do it any other way! Christine was incredible throughout my pregnancy and birth and allowed me to find an inner strength I didn’t know I had. The discussion of a third child has come up and we both agreed we would 100% have Christine as our midwife again! Thank you! Christine has been my midwife for 2 of my 3 births and if I could go back, I would have her for all 3! My first birth was in a hospital setting and was far below my expectations. I wanted more from the experience and I got what I wanted with Christine. From our very first meeting, I KNEW she was who I wanted to be there through my pregnancy and delivery. She was so informative, supportive and understanding even from the very first visit. Each appointment she was sure to check not only my baby but ME and my family. She made the experience a family matter and I LOVED that! She let my 1st daughter sit in on visits and then both my 1st and 2nd daughter when I was pregnant with my 3rd. She included my husband in conversation and informed us on all our options. I never left her office feeling confused or uninformed. During my 1st homebirth, I went from sleeping at 3am to water breaking, hard labor and a baby in 1 hour and 20 minutes. It was overwhelming to say the least but when Christine arrived, she checked baby and checked me and then let me shine. I can still hear her cheering me on while I was in my bathtub birthing my 2nd daughter. I was able to catch her myself and that thought brings tears to my eyes. Christine let ME shine. She let ME be the badass I knew I could and she was incredible. After the delivery, she helped me establish breastfeeding and talked me through the struggles I had with it. When I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child I cried MANY MANY tears of “I wasn’t expecting this”. I told my husband and then I called Christine. She helped me in those very first moments of overwhelm and emotions. As with my first pregnancy with her, she was incredibly attentive to every detail. When I called with a concern, she fit me in right away to ease my worry. With my 3rd birth, things didn’t quite go like the first. I was in labor for 14 hours and needed so much more support than the first time and she gave that to me. She coached me through contractions, she reminded me that I’d done this before and I can do it again. When my cervix stalled in progression, she knew just what to do and it worked! Baby girl number 3 was birthed at home in my bathtub and caught by me. Again, Christine was there to support me while I shined and I am forever grateful for her. I definitely don’t plan on having any more children, but if I did, there is no one else I’d want as a midwife! I will begin way back in 2003 when my husband and I first met Christine, which was at her Bradley class. We were learning a lot, as she is very knowledgeable concerning natural births and also enjoying her enthusiasm as she taught. Although we were only able to attend the first few classes due to going into labor EARLY, Christine made herself available to answer my many questions and visited the hospital on more than one occasion to comfort us through the challenging time of delivering a 24 weeker. Over the years, she attended 4 hospital births acting as our doula. The only birth of ours she didn’t attend was because she had just had her own baby a few weeks prior. As she received my late night/ early morning calls, there was never a hint of fatigue or frustration, only encouragement. She proved herself to be a very competent doula and sweet friend, working many selfless hours supporting us through each birth. Fourteen years later and pregnant with our 7th, we were finally able to experience an unforgettable birth of our baby girl in our home with Christine and her apprentice Heather. Without a doubt, they were both exhausted after being up all night with another client, but never let it interfere with their diligence and kindness during our family's special moment.Christine has been a Godsend and if we are blessed to have another baby, she will certainly be the one called on to help bring the little miracle into this world! When we found out we were expecting our second child, the first person we reached out to was Christine, with Morning Glory Childbirth Services. After such a great experience with our first a couple years prior, we couldn't imagine anyone else guiding us through such a special experience. Christine educates, encourages, and empowers you throughout your pregnancy. She takes an active role at each appointment and makes sure that you & baby are progressing well. She was always available to answer any questions or concerns, and when the day came to welcome our little girl into the world, Christine helped us welcome her into our family. Even when I felt out of control, she always reassured me that everything was progressing just as it should be, and she was right! We wouldn't trust anyone more! I had recently moved to South Carolina when I became pregnant with my fifth baby. In the past I've had two hospital births and two home births, but wanted to interview multiple providers in the area to make sure I knew what options were available. Christine immediately was the clear choice. She was open and warm, and very knowledgeable. During the pregnancy, I knew exactly what I did and did not want. I was carefully monitored while I chose the path I wanted to take during this pregnancy and birth. I chose not to find out the sex of my baby, and it was such a fun wait! William's birth was strange. My fourth child had been a precipitous labor, lasting only 45 minutes from first contraction to crowning, so when I awoke feeling that familiar heaviness, I called Christine before any contractions began. Labor was irregular and mild. Christine and Heather stayed with me and gave me the space to work through it in privacy. I enjoyed being completely alone in my bathroom during most of the contractions, and would come out every 15 minutes for monitoring. What a Godsend it was to be alone! Finally labor very quickly became intense. I got into the birth pool, and in a short hour William was born. Christine and Heather guided me through catching my own baby . . . a dream of mine come true. I cannot express what a natural and easy feeling it was to birth my way in my own home under the watch of such a caring staff. It was absolutely incredible getting to be the first person to touch and hold my baby. The postpartum care is also unparalleled. I never felt alone, I never had a question that I was too rushed, flustered or uncomfortable to ask. Christine was always there to answer questions from the moment I became her client on through the postpartum care. She became a permanent part of my life. Thanks so much to Christine and Heather for an amazing birth experience! |
